Why not go green all year with promotional products, not just for Saint Patrick’s Day

BIO-89 GreenWhen we think of the color green, a few things come to mind like Saint Patrick’s Day , going greenIreland and ways to save the planet, such as the Earth Day.

So, why is Earth Day only one day a year like Saint Patrick’s Day is? Granted we are speaking about two meanings of the word green. Going Green as in using green promotional products or going green by advertising with green colored promotional items. The promotional products do not have to be the color green, but, hey, why not!?

However, if you do decide to use green/environment friendly promotional products, they can come in any color you want. Taking advantage of the fact that the two dates, Saint Patrick’s Day and Earth Day, are close to each other on the calendar, why not use it to promote green awareness on Saint Patrick’s Day and beyond?

Why is green a Saint Patty’s Day thing?

The original color related to Saint Patrick used to be blue. Green is a color that became associated with both Ireland and Saint Patrick because of the emerald isle, the greenness of the landscape and the shamrock Saint Patrick used to explain the trinity, which became a symbol of Irish Catholic Nationalism. The tradition of wearing green came from the picking of shamrocks and putting them in your lapel. With the United Irish uprising in 1798, the population connected the National Saint to the wearing of green and made it political. People then started making uniforms and, to this day, the reason we wear green on Saint Patrick’s Day in NYC is to show our ties to the homeland of Ireland.

Above is a picture of Slemish, mountain in County Antrim where Saint Patrick is reputed to have shepherded as a slave.
